Deliciously Simple Homemade Meatloaf

490206263Whether you’re enrolled in cooking school online, already an established chef or simply hold the culinary arts as a personal interest, you probably realize that time is always going to be a factor when it comes down to cooking. In order to make an incredibly impressive meal, you’re going to need a fair amount of time on your side to execute it properly. This makes sense, but the situation you find yourself cooking in isn’t always going to be ideal. Between your family, profession, and other obligations in your own life, there are going to be some days when you come home and simply don’t have the time or energy to whip up a delicious home-cooked meal. Next time that happens, you may want to try making meatloaf. A classic staple, meatloaf is delicious and easy to create and doesn’t require a great deal of prep time at all. Take a look at one of our favorite meatloaf recipes:

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup of ketchup
  • 1 cup of dried bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons of prepared mustard
  • 1 onion, red or white
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 and 1/2 pounds of ground beef
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar

Once you’ve got all of your ingredients gathered, you’re ready to get underway. Clear a clean space on your counter or kitchen table and follow these instructions carefully to create a delicious meatloaf that your family is sure to love:

Instructions

  • Before you do anything, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. This way, it can heat while you do the rest of the prep work and will be ready to cook when you are.
  • Get out a large mixing bowl and ensure that your hands are clean before you begin the rest of the process.
  • With the exception of the brown sugar, ketchup and mustard, place all of the ingredients in your large mixing bowl.
  • Work the ingredients together with a mixing spoon or your hands until they become cohesive and homogenous. Ideally, the ground beef should begin to absorb everything else, creating a thick substance.
  • Take out a smaller, second bowl and place the remaining three ingredients (the brown sugar, ketchup and mustard) inside of it. Mix these together with a spoon.
  • Form the meatloaf into your desired shape by placing it inside of a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • Pour the mixed condiments together over the meatloaf.
  • You’re ready to cook! Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and then allow to cool before serving.

Other notes
This recipe will yield roughly eight servings, which should be enough to feed a family of four. This dish pairs well with other classic staples, such as mashed potatoes or a simple salad. Refrigerate any leftovers so that they don’t spoil, and they can be easily reheated in a microwave.
