How To Make Waffles

Dating back to the Medieval Ages, waffles used to resemble more of a bland wafer than the Belgian delicacy of today. Luckily for us, they’ve taken a turn for delicious and are often topped with powdered sugar, assorted fruits and a big dollop of whipped cream. In this tutorial with Chef Susie, you can learn to cook those delectable waffles we’ve come to love in just a few easy steps. Hello, breakfast!

Start by sifting the dry ingredients in one bowl. Grabbing another bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the wet ingredients following this order: oil, milk and vanilla extract. When done, mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until smooth and then let sit for 10 minutes. While waiting, preheat the waffle iron and lightly coat with non-stick spray. When ready, pour batter into iron, let sit for one minute and then close the lid. The waffle is ready when it’s a golden-brown color. Garnish with classic toppings like powdered sugar, raspberries, whipped cream and/or caramel sauce or get adventurous!
