How To Make Homemade Potato Chips

It’s about that time of year when we break out the grill and invite over friends and family for a backyard barbecue. Sure, the barbecue and hamburgers are the backbone of the event, but you can’t get by without a few small plates for everyone to snack on while the grill master does his magic. One snack favorite is definitely potato chips. The salty and crunchy treat accompanies summer cookouts perfectly and goes great with a wide variety of dips. But if you’re attending a barbecue and plan on bringing the chips, why not take it up a notch and make some potato chips by scratch? Everyone will be very impressed and appreciate the freshness of deliciously homemade chips. No need to tell them just how easy making your own potato chips is! Potato Chips Recipe

Ingredients:
4, 80 count Idaho Russet, peeled
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Method:
1. Preheat the fryer to 375ºF
2. Peel the potatoes (can be stored in water until ready to cut- overnight is fine)
3. Cut potatoes into chips, about ¼ inch
4. Dry the potato slices on clean towels to absorb all the water (this step is very important so you don’t burn yourself with the back splash from the oil)
5. Cook chips in batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally for overall browning
6. Remove and drain on paper towels
7. Season with salt and black pepper
