How To Make Coffee Cake

Whether you serve it for breakfast, brunch, an afternoon snack, or dessert, coffee cake is an all-time favorite. Start off by rolling out the bun dough to about a half inch thick till it’s in rectangular form, egg wash it and coat it with cinnamon sugar. You can also fill it with jam, raisins or nuts. Cut the edges of the dough to braid the coffee cake, to give the cake some nice contrast and it will swirl the cinnamon from within. Start braiding the cake by overlapping one over the other, straighten out your cake and move it on to the line sheet. You’ll need to egg wash it and coat it again with cinnamon sugar then let it sit for 30 min until it doubles in size. Bake the cake for about 20 min at 350 degrees, or until it’s a nice golden color. You can make a simple icing using powdered sugar and warm water, drizzle it all over the coffee cake to give it a nice finished look. Serve this cake while it’s still warm from the oven, at room temperature, or even cold. In this video, Chef Susie provides an enjoyable online baking lesson for making the most delicious cinnamon coffee cake. Sitting leisurely in the morning with a slice of Coffee Cake and a steaming cup of coffee is one of life’s little pleasures!
