How To Make A Flaky Pie Crust

For the perfect pie, you have to start at the base. The ideal pie crust isn’t just a container for delicious pie filling. It is a delectable treat, all its own. To achieve that fresh from-the-bakery crust, you can’t use a frozen pre-made crust – you have to make your own from scratch. Making pie crust is not difficult and your guests will definitely taste the homemade difference. In a large mixing bowl, combine your dry ingredients with softened butter and mix by hand, breaking up any large clumps of butter. Place the bowl in your stand mixer and add the liquid ingredients using the beater blade attachment. Once the mixture is combined, you can knead the dough by hand to combine the excess dry dough. After your crust has rested in the refrigerator, you can roll out the dough and fit it to the pie dish. If you enjoy the convenience of frozen crusts you can make extras and freeze them for future use without sacrificing taste. In this video, Chef Susie provides an online cooking lesson for making the perfect pie crust. For more great cooking demonstration videos, subscribe to the LearnToCookOnline YouTube channel.
