How To Make Taco Seasoning

Everyone loves taco night. If you have picky eaters in your home or varying tastes, tacos allow everyone to customize their own plate without any extra work on your part. You can even recruit some help in the kitchen chopping up lettuce, onion and tomatoes, and make it a fun family affair. To add a personalized touch to your taco night, make your own taco seasoning. Making your own seasoning is easy to do, it saves money in the long run, and is even healthier. Store bought spices have loads of salt, preservatives and anti-clumping agents that your homemade version won’t. Simply mix together chili powder, cumin, salt, paprika, coriander and cayenne pepper for a little kick. You can change the ratios to play with the spice level or leave out the cayenne altogether. Chef Michael provides an online cooking lesson for creating an easy-to-make taco seasoning.  For more great cooking demonstration videos, subscribe to the LearnToCookOnline YouTube channel.

  1. Taco seasoning mix —-ok how much should I use per lb. of ground beef for tacos????

    • Hi Michele,

We recommend using about 2 tbsp of seasoning per pound but you can increase or decrease this amount depending on how much flavor/how spicy you want it. Hope that helps!
