Simple and Delicious Crock Pot Chili

Delicious crock pot chili recipe. Winter is here again. For many of us, that means long days of shoveling sidewalks, salting driveways and putting snow tires on our cars. However, it isn’t all bad news, as the cold weather outside can be the perfect excuse to get into the kitchen and try out some new recipes that you and your family are sure to love. Still, with even less daylight than usual, it can seem like there just isn’t enough time in the average day to get everything that you want done. This doesn’t mean that your culinary acumen needs to suffer though. In fact, some of the most delicious cold weather recipes are also among the simplest. If you don’t already have one, consider investing in a crock pot. These slow cookers can make winter cooking a breeze, as all you need to do is prep the ingredients for a given meal, toss them in and let them sit all day. Whether you’re working towards an online cooking school certificate or just looking to make an impressive cold-weather meal for your loved ones, give this simple crock pot chili recipe a try. After all, what’s better than coming home to a hot meal?

-1 pound of ground beef
-1 can of kidney beans in liquid, 15 ounces
-1 can of kidney beans drained, 15 ounces
-3/4 cup of diced celery
-2 cans of tomato puree, 10.75 ounces each
-3/4 cup of diced onions
-2 cloves of minced garlic
-3/4 cup of diced green bell peppers
-1 can of cannellini beans in liquid, 15 ounces
-3/4 teaspoon of dried oregano
-3/4 teaspoon dried basil
-1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper
-1/8 teaspoon of hot sauce
-1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
-1 teaspoon of salt
-1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley

1)Light a skillet over medium heat and place the pound of ground beef in it. Cook the meat for roughly 10 minutes or until it is evenly browned on all sides, stirring occasionally.

2) Drain the grease from the skillet and set the meat aside momentarily.

3) Clear an area for your slow cooker and place the meat inside of its basin.

4) Once the meat is in the pot, you can add all of the other ingredients to the mixture.

5) Stir the ingredients together so that they blend evenly.

6) Set your crock pot to its low cook temperature setting. Cover the pot and let cook for 8 hours, stirring intermittently.

7) Come back, remove the lid, serve and enjoy this simple but delicious meal!

Modifications and tastes
One of the foremost benefits of this recipe is that it’s highly modifiable. Given that all of the ingredients cook in the same crock pot, you can take away or add other components as you see fit. If you’re looking for a spicier chili, you may want to experiment with adding jalapenos and other types of peppers into the mix. Or, if you or your family are vegetarians, the meat in the recipe can easily be replaced by adding in more beans. Consider browning tofu for the recipe instead of meat for a healthier option.
