Ginger Bread Cookie Recipe:

Ingredients

4 oz. sweet butter
4 oz. Brown sugar
6 oz. molasses
1 Egg, whole extra large
12 oz. All-purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
½ tsp Salt
2-1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp. Ground Cloves

Method

1. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the molasses and egg and beat until well blended.
2. In a separate bowl mix the remaining ingredients. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mix. Beat briefly until just combined.
3. Remove the dough and gather into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, refrigerate a couple of hours.
4. When ready to make cookies, roll out on lightly floured board or table. The thickness of the dough about ¼ inch. Cut out with cookie cutters that have been dipped in flour.
5. Transfer to parchment paper or buttered cookie trays. 3250F.
6. Bake at 325oF until they are light brown around the edges and somewhat firm to the touch. Baking time approximately 10 minutes.
7. Allow to cook on cookie rack. Decorate as desired with Royal icing.
