Tips for making wine

Instead of buying wine for your next summer get-together, consider making it yourself! Homemade wine can be just as delicious as the store-bought variety, and the best part is, you control exactly what goes into your vino. Here are a few tips to make sure that your wine comes out tasting delicious:

Clean and sterilize equipment
The key to producing a fine wine is making sure that all of the equipment you’re using is perfectly clean and sterilized. Having pristine equipment is essential for the fermentation process when the yeast changes sugar into alcohol. You can use a potassium metabisulphite solution to properly sterilize all of your tools.

Give it time
Patience is essential when making homemade wine. If you’re planning on having some wine ready for a party, you’ll want to make it a few weeks ahead of time, because it usually takes about 10 to 16 days to ferment, and a full week to clear. Cooking school online can take you through the fermentation process for a flawless glass of wine.

Keep an eye on temperature
Temperature is just as crucial as cleanliness for wine making. Wine should be fermented at about 69 to 79 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the type of vino that you’re making and what wine kit you’re using.
