How To Make Apple Pie

Nothing hits the spot better than a thick slice of warm apple pie with a hefty scoop of vanilla ice cream. This American favorite finds its way onto tables around the Fourth of July and sticks around all the way to Thanksgiving and even Christmas. Apple pie is fun to make and after you’ve finished the pie crust, the filling is easy. Slice peeled Granny Smith apples for a tart pie, but you can change the variety of apple for a different taste. Once you have coated the apples with cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and a little bit of flour for thickening, you can place the apples in the pie crust. As the apples cook the juices will combine the slices together. You can use a solid or lattice top for the crust, but whichever design you decide to do, be sure to create a steam vent so the sides of the pie don’t crack. After you egg wash the top, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on the top before sticking it in the oven to bake. In this video, Chef Susie provides an online cooking lesson for making sweet and warm apple pie. For more great cooking demonstration videos, subscribe to the LearnToCookOnline YouTube channel.
