A simple recipe for perfect hot toddies. It might be hard to believe, but autumn is just around the corner. With fall, of course, will be the inevitable return of cold weather for those of us in cooler climates. While this may be unwelcome news to some, it’s worth considering that the arrival of any new season also means a new round of seasonal drinks. Autumn offers a great range of spirited drinks (get it?), but none quite as timeless and delicious as the hot toddy. Irish coffee is great, as are any of the many spiked hot chocolate varieties and pumpkin spice beverages that frequently appear in fall, but nothing resonates as classically of fall as the hot toddy. Plus, these drinks are simple to make, which means they’re perfect for everyone from students enrolled in culinary school online to seasoned bartenders. Stay warm and festive as the leaves start to change with this phenomenal recipe for hot toddies:

What you’ll need:
3 cups of water
16 2-3″ cinnamon sticks
4 cups of apple brandy
1 cup of lemon juice
4 tablespoons of honey

*Note: More honey can be added to taste, if desired.

Instructions

-Using a small saucepan, bring the 3 cups of water to a rolling boil on the stove.

-Once boiling, remove the saucepan and contents from the heat source. Stir in the 4 tablespoons of honey.

-Allow honey to dissolve evenly throughout water, so that you’re making a homogenous mixture.

-Pour the apple brandy into the mixture, stirring while pouring.

-Add the lemon juice to the other contents in the saucepan and stir evenly.

-This recipe makes 16 servings. Serve the hot toddies in a heatproof glass and garnish each with one of the 16 cinnamon sticks for a touch of extra autumnal flair.

-Enjoy!
