How To Make Sausage And Peppers

This Italian dish doesn’t require many ingredients but is wonderful at any time of the year. For a lighter meal, serve the sausage and peppers with a side of a fresh salad and crisp bread, or over pasta with marinara sauce for a heartier take. Heat oil in a pan and sear the sausages until they are browned on each side. It is okay if the sausages are not cooked all the way through. They will be added to the pepper mixture later on, giving them a chance to cook the rest of the way. Remove the sausages from the pan, add in sliced peppers and onions and then some chopped garlic. After the peppers and onions have started to cook through, you can add the sausage back into the pan with some oregano or Italian seasonings. Once the flavors have combined, deglaze the pan with some white wine. If the sausages have not been cooked thoroughly, place the mixture into the oven to finish cooking them through. In this video, Chef Fernando will show you how to cook Italian sausage and peppers. For more great cooking demonstration videos, subscribe to the LearnToCookOnline YouTube channel.

Ingredients:
2 oz Extra-virgin olive oil
8 oz Johnsonville Mild Italian Sausage
1 each Red bell peppers, sliced
1 each Red Onion, sliced
1/4 tsp Dried oregano
1 each Garlic Clove, chopped
½ Cup White Wine

Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until brown on both sides. Remove from the pan and drain

2. Keeping the pan over medium heat, add the peppers, onions, salt, and pepper and cook until golden brown. Add the oregano, basil, and garlic and cook until all flavors have fully developed

3. Deglaze with White wine. Stir to combine, scraping the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon to release all the browned bits. Bring to a simmer

4. Cut the sausages into 4 to 6 pieces each, about 1-inch cubes. Add the sausage back to the pan and stir to combine. Cook until the sauce has thickened, about 20 minutes

5. Serve on plate or in sandwich if desired
